No other place in Northern California has anything like Holiday in the Park
Vallejo, California (PRWEB) November 21, 2012
The Vallejo Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) has begun its fifth annual Celebrate the Holiday Season in Vallejo campaign to promote the city and its many seasonal events. The campaign has been developed by the Vallejo CVB in cooperation with Vallejo Main Street, Vallejo Chamber of Commerce and their Shop Vallejo First program and the Vallejo Times-Herald.
Led by Six Flags Discovery Kingdom’s Holiday in the Park, Vallejo has become the number one place in the San Francisco Bay Area to celebrate the holiday season. Now a family tradition, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom presents its sixth annual holiday spectacular. Visitors will be able to enjoy their favorite rides and attractions along with one of Northern California’s biggest Christmas trees, Santa’s Workshop, Candy Cane Lane, Winter Wonderland, Toy Land, and a giant snow hill called Blitzen's Wonderland Mountain. And don’t miss the non-stop holiday entertainment at the park: Holiday-themed animal shows, a nightly holiday parade starring Santa Claus, a 65 foot tree-lighting ceremony, carolers and their new dinner theatre.
“No other place in Northern California has anything like Holiday in the Park and that has made Vallejo a true destination for the holidays,” said Mike Browne, Executive Director of the Vallejo Convention & Visitors Bureau. “With our many other holiday events, affordable lodging, unique shopping, and great dining, Vallejo is the perfect city to enjoy and from which to base your Bay Area holiday activities.”
Vallejo’s Mad Hatter Holiday Parade & Festival also returns this year on Saturday, December 1. Grand Marshall for this year’s parade is Joey “Jaws” Chestnut, the world’s #1 ranked professional eater. Art Cars from Burning Man will line the parade route while fire shooting snails and dragons all join the Mad Hatter in celebrating Alice’s 160th birthday and tree lighting ceremony for Vallejo. And new this year is the Mad Hatter Masked Ball.
Visitors will want to plan to spend the night and take in many other Vallejo holiday favorites like the 27th Annual Messiah Sing-A-Long, Vallejo’s Annual Waterfront Tree Lighting Ceremony, a lighted boat parade, concerts by the Vallejo Choral Society, art walks, wine tastings and the 17th Annual Christmas Concert at St. Peter’s Chapel on Mare Island.
From Vallejo visitors can also enjoy a scenic roundtrip ferry ride to San Francisco for fabulous shopping and holiday sights at PIER 39 or the San Francisco Ferry Building without fighting holiday traffic. And Vallejo is just short drive from the Jelly Belly Candy Company, the Napa Valley Wine Train and such great Napa Valley wineries as Black Stallion, Castello di Amorosa, Domaine Carneros, and V. Sattui.
