A nationally recognized author details how and why to run a sale-ready business – both for greater day-to-day success and to prepare for a planned or unforeseen future sale

The Irvine Micropreneur Program, a webinar series sponsored by the Irvine (CA) Chamber of Commerce, hosts “How (and Why) to Run Your Business Like It’s for Sale” by business writer and For Dummies author Barbara Findlay Schenck on Thursday, December 6th 2012 at noon PDT. The webinar will be presented in partnership with Business on Main, an online destination for small-business leaders, sponsored by Sprint in collaboration with MSN.

Schenck, who has written five business books (including two on small-business sales), finds that most small-business owners are unprepared for the possibility of a sale, even though most sales are prompted by unplanned conditions that force immediate owner exits and, as a result, lower sale prices.

Schenck says that getting a business into sale-ready shape delivers immediate and long-term value: “The least you’ll gain through a sale-readiness effort is a stronger business that’s more enjoyable to own and run. The most you’ll gain is a final payoff from a new owner. Even if owners have absolutely no plans to sell in the near or far future, they should keep their businesses in sale-ready shape.
