It has been reported that during the early hours of 6th November an intruder got past the first gate and into The Tower of London stealing keys for a restaurant, conference rooms and an internal lock to the drawbridges. As one of the UK’s most secure buildings and storing highly valuable items including that of The Queens Jewels since the 14th Century, the security breach is of alarm.

A spokesperson for the Historic Royal Palaces explained the security procedures in place were not up to, ‘The expected standards, (but) at no point was the security of the Tower at risk.’ She added, ‘We can confirm that during the incident, keys for a restaurant and conference rooms were taken together with a key to an internal lock to the Tower drawbridges that is not accessible from the outside…all affected locks were immediately changed.’

In a humorous move the t-shirt company 8 Ball have promoted their ‘God Save The Queen’ Sex Pistol inspired kids t-shirt. Featuring an iconic picture of The Queen wearing the crown jewels stored at The Tower, similar to that printed on banknotes but with a pin through her nose, the monochrome with pink graffiti t-shirt creates a real ironic and tongue in cheek statement.

A spokesperson from 8 Ball said, ‘We love any t-shirt that can create a real talking point. With the recent theft at The Tower in the nationwide news, we believe this funny t-shirt could cause a few laughs, especially as it’s a children’s t-shirt.’

8 Ball hope the ongoing enquiry into the theft is successful and the Beefeaters can increase their well loved security system.
