On November 28, Rapid Recovery Solutions issued a statement in reaction to a settlement that was reached in a recent court case involving a fake debt collectors.

According to an article on India West, “the Federal Trade Commission said… that it reached a settlement with Varang Thaker, a California man who it claims worked with fake debt collectors in India to trick and threaten consumers into paying debts that were not owed or that he was not authorized to collect.”

The article went on to say that Thaker, American Credit Crunchers LLC, and Ebeeze LLC will all be banned from collecting debts. In addition, “they must turn over nearly all of their assets, about $170,000, which will be used to reimburse consumers.”

John Monderine, CEO of Rapid Recovery Solutions, reacted to the news, saying he is glad that Thaker will be reimbursing the customers he tricked. “I’m disappointed that there are people like this that will take advantage of a system and trick innocent people out of their money,” Monderine said. “Hopefully this will not make people think that every debt collection agency is corrupt, because most of us are honest companies that do not take advantage of people.”
