Leading provider of intuitive software solutions to the mining and exploration industry, MICROMINE is a sponsor of Curtin University’s International Summer School, themed “Resources for a Sustainable Future." This will be the first time an Australian university has hosted premier Russian universities with the aim of highlighting global synergies and opportunities in higher education and research in the resources industry.
From 19-28 November 2012, about 30 delegates from countries such as the United States, Russia, Korea, Chile, Brazil, Malaysia and Japan are meeting in Perth to hear from market experts on resource industry-related topics. The event will focus on Western Australia and Curtin University’s strengths in the areas of mining and mineral processing, oil & gas, engineering and other related areas supporting the resources industry, including technologies such as MICROMINE's to support sustainable mining.
Included with the high profile list of conference speakers is MICROMINE’s Manager, Global Training, Mr. Frank Bilki, who will present on the fundamental role that mining software plays in supporting mining sustainability.
Commenting on MICROMINE’s involvement, CEO Kevin Fitzpatrick says, “We have very strong ties to Russia. Our first Russian office was opened over ten years ago - this has now expanded to 4. MICROMINE also has a long history of partnering with high caliber tertiary institutions. Only two weeks ago we signed a joint Academic Agreement with the Ministry of Education of Uzbekistan and Tashkent State Technical University.”

MICROMINE has recently established an Academic License Agreement with Curtin University’s WA School of Mines. This follows a recent university arrangement between MICROMINE and the University of Mongolia, whereby Micromine software and hardware was provided to the university as part of an exchange of expertise that includes Curtin University’s Western Australian School of Mines, the University of Mongolia and MICROMINE.
MICROMINE has extensive involvement with international university programs. Most recently, the company’s UK office commenced a Student Bursary (scholarship) Program with the University of Leicester, England. Other educational partnerships across Europe include academic license agreements with universities in Albania, Spain, Belgium and Slovenia.
