Quorn Foods Inc. Releases a Statement Offering Ways to Get Protein with Meatless Meals

Following an article on the various ways to get a daily helping of protein without meat, Quorn Foods releases a statement regarding other ways to get meat-free protein.

On November 27th, 2012, following a Huffington Post article on how to get protein without eating meat, Quorn Foods Inc. releases a statement offering other ways to get protein with meatless meals.

According to the Huffington Post article, “One of the most common myths about the vegetarian diet is that after ditching meat it becomes nearly impossible to meet the suggested guidelines for protein intake.” The article states that the USDA recommends women to get approximately 46 grams of protein a day, with men recommended to get 56. The article mentions that although protein is necessary for growth, a strong immune system and respiratory function, you do not need meat to get it.

The article reports that in actuality meat-free protein is better for you in the sense that it is generally lower in calories and fat. “The typical American diet makes it easy to eat heavy on the protein while consuming extra fat and calories your body doesn’t need,” states the article. The article mentions lentils, yogurt, beans, tofu, spinach and peanuts as ways to get your daily amount of protein without eating meat.
