The HomeCare Elite highlights the top 25 percent of home health care agencies and has become the industry standard for recognizing organizational performance. The HomeCare Elite also recognizes the top 100 and top 500 home health providers nationwide.

National Research Corporation and DecisionHealth® are pleased to announce the 2012 HomeCare Elite™, a compilation of the top performing home health agencies in the United States. Both organizations previewed the list of winners at the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC) Annual Meeting in Orlando last month.

Thousands of home health agencies have expressed interest in this recognition program, now in its seventh year, since it was launched on October 22. Agencies can download the 2012 HomeCare Elite list and winning agencies can request access to the complimentary winners media kit.

Recognizing these winners in November is especially significant due to National Homecare and Hospice month.

“The HomeCare Elite program provides an excellent opportunity to recognize outstanding home health care agency performers,” said Susan L. Henricks, President and COO at National Research. “Their commitment to high quality care and measuring performance metrics increases their likelihood to be successful and makes them notable for these achievements. And recognizing these winners during National Homecare month couldn’t be better timing.”

The HomeCare Elite annual review identifies the top 25 percent of agencies in performance among five metric categories and further highlights the top 100 and top 500 agencies overall. This year’s winners are ranked by an analysis of measures in quality of care (outcomes), implementation of process measures, quality improvement, patient experience (HHCAHPS), and financial performance review. In order to be considered, an agency must be Medicare-certified and have data for at least one outcome in Home Health Compare. The 2012 HomeCare Elite was compiled using publicly available data from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Home Health Compare and CMS cost reports. Read the HomeCare Elite data methodology for more information.

There are some interesting data points worth noting about the 2012 HomeCare Elite. Exactly 10,177 Medicare-certified home health agencies in the U.S. and its territories had sufficient data to be considered for the 2012 HomeCare Elite. This represents an increase of 453 from 9,724 home health agencies that were eligible last year. Of the 2,546 agencies that were identified as the top 25 percent for the 2012 HomeCare Elite list, 1,375 are repeat agencies from 2011. Furthermore, 87 agencies in this year’s top 500 appeared in 2011. Plus, 23 of this year’s top 100 returned from last year’s top 100.

The HomeCare Elite is pleased to welcome 553 first-time winners. In addition, 245 home health agencies have appeared on the HomeCare Elite list all seven years. Plus, 13 agencies have appeared in the top 500 every year since the HomeCare Elite was introduced.
