From indie to electro, live acoustic to emerging female artists, RadioBDC is launching a diverse line-up of new shows this fall, highlighting a wide array of local and international music.
Boston.com’s interactive live-streaming radio station, which launched in August, has quickly become a popular listening destination for the region’s loyal alternative music fans.
“We’re introducing the first wave of innovative new programs that will expose our listeners to ground-breaking music they won’t hear anywhere else,” said Program Director Paul Driscoll, host of RadioBDC Brunch and the upcoming “mystery” show, The Brink. “We’re really proud to offer such an eclectic mix, giving local and emerging artists around the globe critical exposure and allowing our listeners to experience truly unique mix of music.”
In November, new weekend hosts will also join well-known RadioBDC on-air personalities Driscoll, Henry Santoro, Julie Kramer and Adam 12. New hosts include: Christine Hayden (Saturday, noon-3 p.m.), Jenny Tyrrell (Saturday, 3-6 p.m.), Jason Layne (Sunday, noon-3 p.m.), Alaina Riccardi (Sunday, 3-6 p.m.), well-known DJ of Fenway Park TJ Connelly (weekend TBD / fill-in) and Priest (weekend fill-in).
New fall programs produced by the RadioBDC staff include:
•RadioBDC Brunch with Paul Driscoll
10 a.m.-noon Sunday, currently streaming
Featuring an eclectic mix of stripped down and unplugged tracks, with exclusive material from RadioBDC’s Live in the Lab, an intimate and exclusive concert series held in the Globe Lab. Other select acoustic tracks from favorite RadioBDC artists and rarities from Driscoll’s vast collection are also featured.
•BDCRemixed with Paul Armstrong
7-8 p.m. Saturday, launched Nov. 10
Paul Armstrong brings you the biggest tracks on the RadioBDC playlist remixed to kick off your Saturday evening.
•The Brink with Paul Driscoll
6-8 p.m. Monday – Thursday, launched Nov. 12
A two-hour musical mystery tour… want to know what The Brink is? Listen to find out!
•LocalBDC with Steph Mangan
8-9 p.m. Monday – Thursday, launched Nov. 12
This new program will bring listeners the best of Boston’s music scene: past, present and future.
•Grrl Power with Steph Mangan
9-10 p.m. Wednesday and Sunday, launched Nov. 14
Highlighting a unique mix of music from emerging female artists, alongside works that influenced the artists.
•RadioBDC Celebrity Series Takeover
9-10 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, launched Nov. 15
Artists, national and international celebrities and local tastemakers will take the controls, spinning their favorite tracks. Two Door Cinema Club, The Wombats, Frank Turner, Metric and Bloc Party are just a few of the stars hosting takeovers in November.
There are also two programs being produced for RadioBDC by “mavens” in Boston and one of England’s top radio presenters:
•Mmmmaven with Alex Maniatis and David Day
8-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, launched Nov. 9
On Fridays, the enterprising school and promotion company Mmmmaven presents a specially-selected DJ or live set list previously recorded at favorite Boston nightclubs. The hip-hop, trance, and house music set is designed to pump listeners up before they hit the town. On Saturdays, the Mmmmaven Agency hand picks one DJ or artist to deliver an exclusive recording of dynamic, delirious and delightful exclusives, classics, and edits.
•London Calling with Ian Camfield
6-8 p.m. Friday, 9-11 p.m. Monday, launched Nov. 9
A trailblazing two-hour British music program featuring the best of the UK music scene, hosted for RadioBDC by Ian Camfield (XFM London).
RadioBDC streams around-the-clock and features alternative music, exclusive musician interviews, journalists and content from The Boston Globe and Boston.com, interactive contests and much more.
