Losing a child at any age is never easy.

In her new book, “Inspired: Inspirational Poems from the Heart,” Shawn N. Graham weaves different moments of her life through her poetry, encouraging anyone experiencing hardship to patiently endure and live each day rejoicing.

Graham lost her first daughter at just four months old. As someone who has always enjoyed reading and writing poetry, Graham turned her pain and sadness into inspirational poems, hoping to comfort and inspire others with her work.

“My book will serve as a reminder that even in the midst of life’s darkest hour, there is still reason or reasons to express gratitude,” Graham says. “The reader is given the chance to experience my life events through my poems, and see my outlook or how I triumphed in a particular situation.”

“Inspired” touches on topics like the importance of faith; the power of forgiveness, letting go and moving forward; patience and forgiveness; and being thankful and expressing gratitude for everything in life.

Through the book, Graham has one ultimate goal: To remind readers that life is unpredictable, so one should always live, love and forgive. “Inspired” has something for everyone to relate to and learn from.

“We all have had to deal with what life has thrown at us, and whether they have been good or bad there is a poem in the book that may speak to that situation and give someone hope to live life to the fullest,” Graham says.
