"With over 85,000 votes, we now have greater insight into the wine preferences of the average wine consumer."

Snooth.com, the world's largest online wine community, is announcing the winners of the inaugural People's Voice Wine Awards, the wine industry's first consumer-driven wine awards program.

Partnering with Eating Well, Every Day with Rachael Ray, Recipe.com and Family Circle, the People's Voice Wine Awards reached 23,000 voters. Over 85,000 votes were cast by the public.

Trends in votes revealed the most popular wine category to be Red Blends, followed by Riesling. The wine region to receive the most votes was Napa Valley. Wine consumers who voted were located all over the world, but the city that contributed the most votes was New York City. Using these and other trends, we've built a People's Voice Wine Awards infographic, which delivers even more information about the average wine consumer. You can find it here.

"In extending the 2012 People's Voice Wine Awards to five of the top recipe sites on the web, we've broadened the type of voter participating in our awards program to include the casual wine consumer as well as the wine enthusiast," says Snooth CEO Rich Tomko. "With over 85,000 votes, we now have greater insight into the wine preferences of the average wine consumer."

"Passionate wine consumers make decisions about wine every day," says Snooth Editor-in-Chief Gregory Dal Piaz. "Opening voting to the public allows these consumers to recognize the wines they consider the best of 2012."

100 winning wines in categories like Premium Cabernet Sauvignon, Value Zinfandel and Luxury Italian Red have been announced. For a list of all the winners, click here.
