Most patients see an immediate effect of the injected filler in the treated area; for instance, there can be significant improvement of the dark circles immediately after treatment.

Mehryar (Ray) Taban, MD, FACS, is a board-certified oculoplastic surgeon who is now offering Belotero and Dysport at his Santa Barbara and Beverly Hills offices. Both injectable treatments offer patients a younger, more refreshed appearance. Best of all, both treatments are “lunch-break friendly,” meaning they are fairly quick procedures that take less than an hour.

Recently launched in the United States, Belotero is an injectable dermal filler approved by the FDA to smooth moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. It combats aging by using natural volumizers and moisturizers, such as hyaluronic acid (HA) that integrates with your own tissue, leaving the patient with a natural, younger, and more radiant-looking appearance. The new filler can be used on various parts of the face including the lips, frown lines, cheekbones, bridge of the nose, and perioral lines. Importantly, it is great for treating dark circles, tear trough region of the lower eyelids, brows, and upper eyelids.

“Most patients see an immediate effect of the injected filler in the treated area; for instance, there can be significant improvement of the dark circles immediately after treatment.” says Dr. Taban.

While Dr. Taban uses Belotero and other fillers to add volume back to the face, in order to erase wrinkles he is now offering Dysport injections, in addition to Botox. Dysport is an injectable that offers the best results for moderate to severe frown lines between the eyes (11 lines), crow's feet and forehead creases without changing the contours of your face. Treatment usually takes about 5 minutes. Dysport is similar to Botox in that it also paralyzes the muscles, but the two botulinum toxins aren’t the same. According to Dr. Taban, “Botox and Dysport are both great neurotoxins, with slightly different qualities. Dysport may be a better alternative for some patients since it diffuses slightly more than Botox. This property makes it a great solution for treating larger areas like forehead creases."

Dr. Taban is a Santa Barbara and Beverly Hills-based oculoplastic surgeon who is committed to his patients' progress and results.
