As the demographics of this industry changes it's vital everyone involved embraces that aging is an active process, and those aging are active, too
Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) November 26, 2012
To provide its long-term care community of managers and DONs with more resources geared toward providing the best quality of care while maintaining state-of-the-art programs, ADVANCE for Long-Term Care Management announces a new partnership with the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA). ICAA is an organization of approximately 9,000 senior facilities and retirement communities that share the common interest of encouraging older adults to pursue active, healthy lifestyles via active-aging education, information, and resources.
ADVANCE for Long-Term Care Management is a print publication and website devoted to providing clinical and business information to top-management personnel in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities and skilled nursing facilities.
As part of the partnership, ADVANCE will collaborate with ICAA on one or more joint educational webinars per year and will participate in the annual ICAA conference. ICAA will provide a regular column to ADVANCE which will appear online, in the e-newsletter and in print.
"We look forward to working ICAA and further supporting healthy, active aging in senior living facilities," said Linda Jones, editor of ADVANCE for Long-Term Care Management. "As the demographics of this industry changes it's vital everyone involved embraces that aging is an active process, and those aging are active, too. This partnership will allow us to keep our readership informed and engaged in best practices in senior wellness."
“ICAA is thrilled to be working with ADVANCE,” said Colin Milner, CEO and Founder of ICAA. Population aging is filled with challenges and opportunities. By working together we can use our joint resources to address the challenges with new and innovative information and Best Practices, while highlight the benefits of embracing the opportunities that exist. The end result, a healthier older population, and that’s good for society and business.”

About the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA)
The International Council on Active Aging® is the professional association that leads, connects and defines the active-aging industry. ICAA supports professionals who develop wellness facilities, programs and services for adults over 50. The association is focused on active aging—an approach to aging that helps older adults live as fully as possible within all dimensions of wellness (i.e., physical, social, environmental, vocational, intellectual, emotional and spiritual)—and provides its members with education, information, resources and tools. As an active-aging educator and advocate, ICAA has advised numerous organizations and governmental bodies, including the US Administration on Aging, the National Institute on Aging (one of the US National Institutes of Health), the US Department of Health and Human Services, Canada’s Special Senate Committee on Aging, European Commission, and the British Columbia ministries of Health, and Healthy Living and Sport.
ICAA launched the Changing the Way We Age® Campaign (http://www.changingthewayweage.com) as part of the organization’s efforts to change perceptions of aging and overturn ageist stereotypes.
