Award-winning artist Christa Wells is using the online fundraising tool Kickstarter to raise support for her upcoming solo album.

Whatever brings you here, I'm truly grateful you'd consider helping me give this next body of music wings.

Christa Wells is an award-winning songwriter and the artist behind two well-received solo albums, Frame the Clouds, which featured guest vocals from Sara Groves, Plumb and Todd Smith (Selah), and 7-song How Emptiness Sings. Her songs have been recorded by Selah, Plumb, Point of Grace, and Natalie Grant. As she embarks on her latest solo venture, Christa Wells ( is asking her fans to support the effort through the online funding platform Kickstarter (

Christa funded her previous albums on her own, but writes, "Having erred on the side of self-sufficiency many a time, I'm learning that community is supremely better. Your encouragement has long fueled me to lean into the fear that used to keep my music safely contained in my own living room." The consistently warm response to her songs and heartfelt support voiced by fans is an immense encouragement to Christa and leads her to believe these same listeners will gladly join the fundraising campaign toward a third solo album.

"Releasing an album as independent artist means great things like complete creative control and the freedom to manage your time and project as you think best. It also means, of course, that you are sort of Fred-Flintstoning the vehicle with your bare feet and no expensive machinery. It's a LOT. A lot of work." It also costs a great deal of money.

Christa's Kickstarter campaign was formally launched on November 14 and scheduled to last just 30 days, ending on December 14, 2012. Christa is seeking to raise $15,000 which will help cover the expense of recording a full album of new music at Zodlounge Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.
