The 22nd-23rd November saw international sales leaders come together for Sales Director Live at Olympia London, an international event designed to deliver cutting-edge advice and insight into the latest developments impacting the ever-changing world of sales.
The fully interactive exhibition and conference played host to 60 leading speakers across the two days, including a co-hosted presentation between DSV Sales Director Chris Malyon and Pareto Sales Director Bryn Thompson, who explored the challenges faced by DSV in terms of hiring and developing market-leading sales staff. The two organisations have worked in partnership for a number of years, and now celebrate DSV’s successful win of Employer of the Year at the Global Freight Awards 2012.

The combined presentation explored the journey undertaken by DSV, including the appointment of 10 Pareto graduates in 2011 and extensive external sales training provided across all levels of the team. The resulting figures demonstrated the successful installation of a strong culture of sales excellence across the company, including a 100% increase in client visits and 47% increase in new business in the year-to-date figures for the organisation. In addition, 8 of the Pareto grads have been retained by DSV, with 4 already exceeding their 2012 annual targets and continuing to perform above expectations, paving the way for outstanding business performance for the forthcoming year.
With a new graduate sales recruitment intake planned for spring 2013 and continual evaluation of sales training, Pareto and DSV are set to continue working in partnership to establish a highly trained and motivated sales team with excellent staff retention levels for the foreseeable future.
The Sales Director Live event uses the direct experience of a number of organisations to investigate the latest industry-specific market intelligence and research, determining strategies adopted by the UK’s best sales leaders to source, create and retain the top performing 3% of the sales industry. A unique networking opportunity, the event also ran alongside The Business Show, attracting some 25,000 businesses and 350 exhibitors.
