One of the biggest challenges on this home was on the exterior... The end product is gorgeous, and something that all of our TradePartners who worked on this with us can be proud of.

Shea Custom and Barefoot and Company, Inc are proud to be the recipient of the Contractor of the Year Award by the Charlotte chapter of NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry). This award was given specifically in the category of Entire House Renovation with a cost between $500,001 - $1,000,000. The project submitted took 6 months to complete and was quite extensive.
Charlie O’Melveny, Operations Manager of Shea Custom, was quite excited to get his hands into this project. The project included taking the client’s architect’s designs and combining them with the client’s vision for their home, to provide an updated, modern, open floorplan. The family needed additional living space, and all additions had to blend in seamlessly with the existing home.
Charlie says, “One of the biggest challenges on this home was on the exterior; we removed the roof and added the third floor. We had to blend three different kinds of brick to get the new exterior to match the existing brick. We also presented to our client some design features to spice up the ceilings in the master bedroom and family room, which they loved. The end product is gorgeous, and something that all of our TradePartners who worked on this with us can be proud of.”
Barefoot and Company of Indian Trail, NC co-sponsored the entry; they were the TradePartner in charge of finding new ENERGY STAR compliant windows to match the architect’s design, and created a custom window for the front of the home. Bill Green, Director of Operations at Barefoot and Company, stated, “It was a very rewarding project to be involved on. Charlie and the client drew the picture; all we had to do was stay in the lines. Barefoot and Company is grateful to be a part of this restoration.”
By the time this home renovation was complete, Shea Custom added a third floor, a bonus room above the garage, refinished all existing hardwood floors, built a brand new gourmet kitchen, updated three bathrooms, replaced many windows and renovated 95% of the house in general. The oak trees are still standing, and the homeowners are very happy with their new space. To view before and after photos of this home renovation, please visit http://www.sheacustom.com.
