Remember the days when the Christmas season meant that families would gather together and reminisce over a cup of hot cocoa? Remember the days when people made their decorations and cards? Remember listening to Christmas carolers as they strolled down neighborhood streets?
Lately during the holidays, it seems like many are just too busy for those things. They shop at the “Big Box” stores and decorate with items that are pre-made, pre-packaged and pre-assembled.
Back in the day, ornaments were hand-made, Christmas cookies were decorated by hand, and the best gifts of all were the hand-made Christmas cards from the children and grandchildren.
Well, those days are back, here at The Heirloom Market and Café in Thomson, Illinois. This year, they have come up with a series of activities that will bring back the ways of old, rekindling those memories of a time before deadlines and schedules. Discover Christmas is the holiday theme at The Heirloom Market and Café, and they look forward to getting back to traditions that make lasting memories.
On Saturday, December 1st, the staff will be on hand, helping children of all ages decorate ornaments and gingerbread cookies. They will also be assisting kids while they create and design their own Christmas cards. Art supplies will be provided, leaving the kids to their imagination as they paint, color, and glue their way into the hearts of the people they love.
Each decorating session will be one hour long, with a gift bag and lunch included for each participating child. There will also be live Christmas music throughout the day. The cost is only $5 per child, and with limited seating, you might want to sign up early. There will be three sessions in all, starting at 11am, 12 pm, and 1pm on Saturday, December 1st. (All children should be accompanied by an adult.)
Don’t miss this opportunity to make memories with your child or grandchild - it only takes an hour. They are looking forward to creating a great holiday tradition as they kick off their Discover Christmas programs. Look for updates on their website, TheHeirloomMarket.com throughout the holidays for more fun, family activities.
