This interactive accident location map will allow us to identify accident hotspots, and particularly those associated with fatal and serious injury accidents, which we can use to campaign for better road safety for motorcyclist, cyclist and pedestrians.
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 29 November 2012
The map from Accident Claims, which follows Road Safety Week (19th – 25th November), contains information from the government’s Road Safety Accident Dataset (2011) and allows visitors to log details of accidents they were involved in. It includes various accident circumstances and demographics, such as whether a pedestrian, bicycle or other vehicle was involved, how serious the incident was, the age range and gender of those involved, the weather conditions at the time, and the speed limit at the accident location. To view the map, click here.
Users are able to enter an address, postcode or place name into the search box to view the number of reported accidents in the area and discover more about who was involved and what the circumstances of the incident were.
The map also allows visitors to view accident clusters; a facility which highlights the shocking number of road accidents in the UK every year. It shows that Greater London and various areas of the North West have the highest occurrence of accidents in the country. With the Road Traffic Map, Accident Claims hope to provide people with an easy-to-use source of information which can be used for campaigning to local councils for improvements to roads to be made. Should an accident trend appear in an area, map data can be presented to local MP’s or council representatives to call for action.
Stuart Kightley, a Partner at Accident Claims, said: 'Within 100 yards of my office in Camden there have been 4 fatal accidents in recent years. In three of them, a motorcyclist was killed. This interactive accident location map will allow us to identify accident hotspots, and particularly those associated with fatal and serious injury accidents, which we can use to campaign for better road safety for motorcyclist, cyclist and pedestrians.'
Although Britain has one of the best records in the world in terms of road casualties, there are still hundreds of deaths on UK roads each year. Road Safety Week aims to prevent road accidents and provide support to victims, an initiative which Accident Claims fully supports.
