New Members Join Summit Medical Group Board of Directors

Summit Medical Group (SMG) appoints two new physician members to its board of directors: Avinash A. Kothavale, M.D, FACC, and Richard S. Nitzberg, M.D.

Summit Medical Group (SMG) has appointed two new physician members to its board of directors: Avinash A. Kothavale, M.D, FACC, and Richard S. Nitzberg, M.D.

     Avinash A. Kothavale, M.D., FACC is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, and echocardiography. In addition, he has advanced training in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and echocardiography. Dr. Kothavale helped develop the Summit Medical Group Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center. He is former Chairperson of the Summit Medical Group Research Review Committee, which manages clinical trials. The Consumer Research Council of America lists him in "America's Top Cardiologists."

     Vice Chair of Summit Medical Group Surgery, Richard S. Nitzberg, M.D, specializes in general and vascular surgery as well as hernia and laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Nitzberg also leads the Summit Medical Group Vein Center, which provides treatment for spider and varicose veins. For the past 4 years, he has been Chief of General Surgery at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey. Dr. Nitzberg is listed in Castle Connolly "Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area," Castle Connolly "America's Top Doctors," and the 2010, 2011 and 2012 New Jersey Monthly "Top Doctors" listings.
