Ivey, Barnum & O’Mara, LLC is pleased to announce that Stephen G. Walko, a Member of the Firm, has been elected to represent Connecticut’s 150th District in the State House of Representatives. Mr. Walko, 42, a third-generation resident of Greenwich, ran on the Republican ticket with a platform stressing the need for fiscal discipline on the state level.

Mr. Walko commented on the night of his election, “We need to bring a little more of Greenwich to Hartford, not the other way around. We can no longer pass budgets that we cannot afford.”

Mr. Walko currently serves as a Public Member of the CT State Board of Mediation and Arbitration and is a 2011 appointee to the Panel of Connecticut Neutral Arbitrators. He is a member of the Fairfield County and Connecticut Bar Associations and is a past president of the Greenwich Bar Association.

Mr. Walko’s almost two decades of service to the Town of Greenwich include eleven years on the Board of Estimate and Taxation, four as chairman, after chairing its Budget Committee; and five years on the Representative Town Meeting, two of them as chair of its Budget Overview Committee.

Mr. Walko’s areas of practice at the Firm include civil and commercial litigation, employment law and real estate. He is admitted to the bars of the State of Connecticut and New York for the Eastern District of New York and the New York Appellate Division, Second Department.

Mr. Walko is married to Alexandra Godfrey Walko. The couple has two young children.
