The initial feedback about our new WasteJobs and WaterJobs websites from both candidates and clients has been extremely positive in terms of the websites functionality, navigation and ease of use."

The GreenJobs network of websites has launched two new specialist job boards that will cater for candidates and organisations in the following sectors – Waste Jobs and Water Jobs. These new websites will complement and be integrated with the GreenJobs network of websites and they will promote both United Kingdom and international jobs and career opportunities. WasteJobs covers a wide variety of job types including – recycling job opportunities, recycling officer jobs, waste collection jobs, waste disposal jobs, waste management jobs, waste recycling jobs and waste treatment jobs. While WaterJobs covers a wide variety of job types including – desalination jobs, drainage jobs, flood jobs, hydrology job opportunities, river jobs, water recycling jobs and water treatment jobs.
From a candidates perspective both WasteJobs and WaterJobs have been designed to be user friendly and intuitive to use and provides them with the widest choice of suitable vacancies and the best possible functionality. The job search functionality that we have developed allows candidates to specify the exact type of role that they are interested in finding out more about as they can narrow their job search criteria by job title, job type, job sector, job category, salary, education level and location. When a candidate registers with WasteJobs or WaterJobs they are given access to a free candidate management system that also allows them to use any of the other websites that are part of the GreenJobs network of websites. This system allows the candidate to upload and edit their CV, set up job alerts by email that immediately notify them of suitable job opportunities, add jobs to a wish list and track all the applications that they have made to suitable job postings. Furthermore the "Smartsearch" technology that is an integral part of the GreenJobs network of websites ensures that job seekers find the exact type of vacancy that they want as well as receiving automatic recommendations on other suitable positions and being able to email suitable job opportunities to friends and colleagues. As both WasteJobs and WaterJobs cover a wide variety of industry specific job categories this makes it quicker and easier for candidates to find the exact type of role that they are looking for.
From a recruiters perspective both WasteJobs and WaterJobs have been designed to make the recruitment process quick, easy and cost effective. We have developed a range of tailored recruitment solutions that organisations can use as part of their candidate attraction strategy and these include featured jobs, featured employers and newsletter sponsorship. These services will allow organisations to highlight their employer brand proposition and win the war for talent. The recruiter management system has been designed to be extremely user friendly and gives our clients full control of their recruitment campaign as well as being fully integrated with job posting distribution services such as Broadbean, Idibu and Logic Melon. Clients can easily manage their recruitment process with functionality such as being able to post, edit and delete their job postings. Furthermore applications to their advertised job postings are sent straight to their inbox meaning that active job seekers can be contacted immediately. Our recruiter management system allows our clients to pre-qualify candidates by asking them to complete a number of important questions when they apply to their jobs. This information allows them to make a quick judgement call on whom the most suitable candidates are to take to the next stage of the recruitment process. From a recruiters point of view the benefit of covering a wide variety of industry specific job categories on each of these websites is that it makes it more effective for them to promote their job opportunities to both passive and active jobseekers via the “Job alerts by email” system. The new websites have been integrated into the existing GreenJobs network of websites and this means that when a recruiter posts a job onto either WasteJobs or WaterJobs it can be automatically uploaded to our other websites if it is suitable. The other job boards in the network include – ConservationJobs, EnvironmentalJobs, GreenJobs, RenewableEnergyJobs, SolarJobs and WindJobs.
In order to give clients a wider potential audience for their job postings the two new websites have developed a talent finder network in partnership with some of the most popular and best known generalist job boards. This talent finder network means that when a job is posted on these websites it will also automatically be posted onto a number of other job boards and social media platforms including Businessgreenjobs, Facebook, Indeed, Linkedin, Mitula, Workhound, Trovit and Twitter.
Jonathan Kyle (Director of Strategy) - "The decision to build two new websites that cater specifically for job opportunities in the water and waste sectors was driven by feedback from our candidates and clients and the specific industry research that we carried out.
Our existing candidates and clients explained their desire for specialist job boards that catered for their exact employment and career requirements. By working closely with both our candidates and clients throughout the website development process we endeavoured to ensure that the finished websites were to the standard that they required. The initial feedback about our new job boards has been extremely positive in terms of the websites functionality, navigation and ease of use.
The industry based market research that we carried out enabled us to ensure that the types of job categories that we cover are relevant to people in these specific industries.
Within the waste industry our research showed that as the United Kingdom continues to make a concerted effort to reduce the amount of waste that it generates this will mean a substantial change to the skill sets required by workers in the waste industry. We envisage an increase in the demand for new workers in the recycling industry and in alternative waste disposal methods (e.g. energy from waste). WasteJobs will have a heavy focus on promoting these types of specialist jobs and we are confident that our service will play a pivotal role in organisation’s candidate attraction strategies and candidate’s career progression plans.
Our research within the United Kingdom water industry highlighted that the government has particular concerns that population growth and climate change could prove extremely problematic for the water supply. This has meant that there is an increasing focus on water conservation, the reduction of water sector generated greenhouse gas emissions, water quality and the effective management of flood and surface water. Consequently, there will be an increasing demand for skilled employees to help overcome these problems. The United Kingdom government has estimated that around 3,000 new workers per year will be required by the water industry between 2008 and 2017 with demand for the following occupations being greatest - chartered engineers, mechanical/electrical/leakage technicians, design engineers and network construction operatives. As a specialist job board, WaterJobs is perfectly positioned to facilitate the application process in a quick and easy manner between candidates and recruiters.
From our perspective launching these two new job boards will attract more suitably experienced candidates for our clients and promote more relevant job opportunities to our candidates while increasing our market share in the various specialist sectors that we cover.”
