“Board certification” is granted only to ophthalmologists who meet a series of accredited medical training requirements in Ophthalmology, sign a pledge indicating their intent to practice with compassion, integrity and respect for human dignity, and complete an intensive evaluation process which includes both written and oral examinations.
Board certification signals that a physician has successfully completed an evaluation designed to assess the knowledge, experience and skills requisite to the delivery of patient care that meets the specialty’s high standards.
