Just in time for holiday gift-giving, Marcel’s Culinary Experience (http://www.marcelsculinaryexperience.com), a gourmet retailer and recreational cooking school in Glen Ellyn, Ill. (Chicago suburb), has announced its First Quarter 2013 schedule of classes and workshops for cooks of all ages and skill levels.

People can order classes for themselves or others via our website, or they can stop by the store, or simply give us a call.”
New for the new year, Marcel’s is offering breakfast classes one Friday morning each month; classes for advanced cooks (one example: Cooking Without Recipes on Feb. 7); and several workshops, including a two-day event (Jan. 19-20) focused on making sourdough bread.
Registered dietician Lynn Dugan returns after New Year’s with classes designed to help people eat healthier. Offerings include Easy Food Resolutions (Jan. 9), Flexitarian Style (Feb. 21), and New Beans on the Block (March 13).

The Valentine’s Day class, taught by Chef Paul Lindemuth, features a menu of ingredients long-believed to be the foods of love, as extolled by Montezuma, Casanova, and cultures around the world.
Chef Paul is also teaching a March 1 class featuring recreations of some of the best restaurant dishes he’s ever eaten, including those from Café Boulud, Charlie Trotter’s, and The French Laundry.
Marcel’s continues its popular series of international cuisine classes with Easy Mediterranean (Jan. 11), Chinese New Year (Feb. 8), French Bistro Favorites (Feb. 16), Inspiration from Provence (Feb. 20), Dim Sum (March 16), and Irish Brunch (March 17).
