Amazon's leading horror serial, Z 2134, hit a landmark 100 reviews today, just over a month since the book's launch, making it one of the most reviewed titles in Kindle Serials.
What's more, with an average review of 4.0 out of five stars, the novel by authors Sean Platt and David Wright is one of the best rated Kindle Serials among readers and critics.
Amazon top 1,000 reviewer R. Nicholson praised the serial for being "unpredictable, fast paced [and] brutally realistic." Likewise, Betsy Talbot applauded Platt and Wright for writing authentic, gritty characters.
The authors "have a special knack" for making their characters "seem real, even in crazy situations like alternate universes and zombie attacks," Talbot wrote.
Other reviewers claimed to be "completely hooked" and said they "can't wait for the next episode" to go live.
Even zombie skeptics have been won over. "I've never been much of a zombie fan...until now!" said Gabe R.
Author Sean Platt said he is "honored" by the high praises of readers.
"Both myself and David Wright, my co-author, believe in quality fiction. We're delighted when our readers respond positively to our hard work and high production values."
Platt and Wright's indie imprint, Collective Inkwell, was approached by Amazon to write Z 2134 following the duo's success with five self-published serial fiction titles, including Yesterday's Gone, WhiteSpace, and ForNevermore.
"Having been responsible for everything, from writing to copy-editing to cover design to formatting as an indie publisher, it feels great to be able to focus on the writing and let Amazon do the rest," David Wright said.
Published by Amazon's 47North imprint, zombie thriller Z 2134 is a nail biting mashup of "The Waking Dead" and "Hunger Games" set in a post-apocalyptic America after a series of zombie plagues decimated much of the world's population.
The novel previously skyrocketed into Amazon's top 100 bestsellers in the Kindle Store, and grabbed the top spot in Kindle's horror department.
Kindle Serials are published by Amazon as a series of fiction episodes, with a new episode delivered to the reader's Kindle device every week. Once all episodes are published, the serial is available to purchase as a complete novel.
Z 2134 is available from Amazon for $3.99 for the Kindle and $8.97 in paperback.
