Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 28, 2012
The space-shuttle Endeavour flew over the City of Los Angeles on September 20, 2012, completing its final voyage. After 25 missions in space and one, two-mile-an-hour ride through thronged city streets, the shuttle found a new home at the California Science Center in the heart of Los Angeles Exposition Park. AAA Flag & Banner, also headquartered in Los Angeles, provided a commemorative "Mission 26" banner, signed by Mayor Anthony Viaragosa and others involved in the shuttle-transport project. The custom banner and other custom signage printed by AAA Flag & Banner now reside with the Endeavour in the new exhibit, which millions of people are anticipated to visit.
AAA Flag & Banner has maintained a close relationship with the California Science Center for the last 13 years. When the printing company proposed to provide graphics for the space-shuttle display at an extremely reasonable price, Science Center Directors took them up on the offer. They acknowledged that AAA Flag & Banner's reputation for producing and installing the highest-quality event materials, especially in unique situations, would be needed for the Endeavour.
Though experts in large-scale displays and graphics, AAA Flag & Banner still found creating a back-drop for a space-shuttle no ordinary task. In addition to flags, decals, and custom banners, AAA Flag & Banner helped create the entrance for a shuttle-simulation station, and special backlit fabrics for the shuttle display. Also, a large custom banner on the exterior of the building had to be installed without penetrating the brick facade, which required a special hardware system to be attached to metal gutters on the outside of the building. Each element was finished successfully and senior contacts at the Science Center expressed their satisfaction for the work.
The space-shuttle Endeavour will no longer travel into space, but it has not quite reached its final destination. Plans for a new building at the Science Center are underway--a facility that can display the shuttle vertically, as it appeared during lift-off into space. AAA Flag & Banner will prepare and install the graphic background for this exhibit, as well. According to the project schedule, visitors to the California Science Center will be able to view the shuttle in this new arrangement sometime in 2017.
