“Eat Out. Cash In” Loyalty Platform Issues Seasonal Questionnaire to Tap into Popular Holiday Sentiments of it’s User Base

From company parties to setting New Year’s resolutions, the holidays offer a time of traditions, family, friends – and fun. The national survey of more than 1,000 men and women found that most respondents (57%) want to “Have more fun” in 2013 as their top New Year’s resolution, followed by losing weight (22%), finding their soul mate (12%) or getting a new job (9%).

Also, the majority of people prefer to spend a holiday happy hour with Will Ferrell’s memorable character “Buddy the Elf”(31%) over Chevy Chase’s “Clark W. Griswold” (28%), Billy Bob Thornton’s “Bad Santa” (24%), or Dr. Seuss’s “The Grinch” – who came in last (12%).

When asked which celebrity chef they’d like to cook their holiday dinner, Anthony Bourdain scored the highest (32%), with Giada De Laurentiis close behind (30%), followed by Gordon Ramsey (27%).

Additional survey results included:

  •     COMPANY HOLIDAY PARTIES?

26% will attend their company’s holiday party at a restaurant this year, 12% at the office, 12% at a hotel ballroom – but 51% said “What holiday party?”

  •     DINING BEHAVIOR DURING THE HOLIDAYS?

12% say they go out to eat “a lot more often”, 35% say “a little bit more often”, 8% say “less often”, but 45% say they eat out just as often as they do any other time of year (no change)

  •     TIPPING DURING THE HOLIDAYS?

34% say they tip “a little bit more” than normal, 5% say “quite a bit more”, 1% double their tip, but 60% say there is no change in their tipping behavior at all

  •     HOLIDAY BONUS?

40% choose to stash their holiday bonus in a 401k account, compared to going on a shopping spree (33%), donating it to charity (16%), or taking it to Vegas to gamble (12%)
