The Universal Life Church Monastery announces that it will host “December to Remember,” a mass wedding event that celebrates the legalization of same-sex marriage in Washington state, on Saturday, Dec. 15, beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing throughout the day.
The December to Remember celebration will be held at The Sanctuary at Admiral, a historical landmark in West Seattle. This free event will include individual luxury wedding ceremonies for 20 gay and straight couples, as well as flowers, cake, photographers, and music - all provided for the couples at no charge. A no host bar and meal options by Foodz Catering will also be available.
An array of progressive Washington businesses have partnered with the ULC Monastery to make December to Remember possible. These official sponsors include The Sanctuary at Admiral, Foodz Catering, and JD White Entertainment Services.
The ULC Monastery firmly believes in marriage equality and both supports and facilitates marriages for same-sex couples. Ministers of the ULC Monastery are encouraged to officiate same sex weddings in the nine states where same sex marriage has been legalized. Questions about the logistics of same sex marriages in Washington and the other states where they are legal can be answered on the ULC Monastery’s website.
The Universal Life Church Monastery is a non-denominational church headquartered in Seattle. Anyone can legally become a minister by visiting the ULC’s website and submitting their information there. TheMonastery.org also features a catalog of minister supplies and a number of articles about how to perform weddings and other religious ceremonies. The Universal Life Church has ordained over 20 million ministers around the world.
