AbsolutData, a rapidly growing global analytics and research firm for Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), retail and hospitality companies, announced today that industry veteran Dr. Chris Diener has joined as Senior Vice President and key member of the leadership team.

Diener has more than 15 years of executive-level experience, including founding an elite marketing analytics company that served a prestigious client base of Fortune 500 companies such as eBay, Disney, Unilever, Pfizer and IBM and was later acquired by Omnicom. Based in Salt Lake City, Diener will lead efforts as the company scales up rapidly following a recent $20M round of investment by Fidelity Growth Partners to use to increase AbsolutData’s global footprint and double headcount over the next year.

“As more companies begin to realize the value of embedding deep analytics in an organization and aligning them with strategic initiatives, we have grown exponentially to meet demand,” said CEO and co-founder of AbsolutData, Dr. Anil Kaul. “Chris is one of the foremost experts in this industry. His expertise will help us further support our existing customers, many of which are Fortune 1000 companies, while we scale to extend our global reach.”

With Analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) listed as one of the three highest priority investments for 2012-2015 in this year’s Gartner’s Annual Survey for CIOs, AbsolutData’s knowledge-driven strategies and deep industry expertise fulfills a pervasive gap in analytics skills and talent supply and demand.

Supporting many well-known consumer and business-to-business brands in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), retail and hospitality, the Bay area business analytics firm serves companies across more than 40 countries, with 300 employees and domestic offices in San Francisco (HQ), Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago, as well as global locations. The company’s leadership team is comprised of executives with experience at McKinsey, Mitsubishi, Kraft and Pfizer.

“AbsolutData has been a leader and built an award-winning track record helping companies harness the power of timely analytics, with skilled resources and a nimble approach,” said Diener. “It’s an exciting time to join the company and build on our growth. With advanced analytics, we’re helping companies significantly improve customer experience and uncover bottom-line growth opportunities.”

With a PhD, having taught MBA courses, and as an applied academic researcher, Diener is a leading expert in critical areas like optimization, management and marketing strategy, and high-level quantitative analysis and analytics design. Diener also holds Juris Doctor and MBA degrees and earned his BA in Economics. Most recently he served as the Chief Operating Officer of The Modellers and Executive Director of its recently created division, ModHub.
