Denver, CO (PRWEB) November 30, 2012

On Saturday, December 1, 2012, 4-9 p.m., TEDxMileHigh will present TEDxMileHighWomen at the Denver Art Museum. This inaugural event will feature eight dynamic Colorado speakers and performers that will inspire and activate the Mile High community in the spirit of "Ideas Worth Spreading."

In addition to the local speakers, TEDxWomen will broadcast from Washington D.C., via livestream, to tens of thousands of people from around the world attending independently organized TEDx events. TEDxMileHighWomen is one of more than 100 events that will showcase this livecast along with local speakers/presenters all offering "the talk of their lives" around the power of ideas. This promises to be a truly global event.

Lynn Gangone, Dean of the Women's College at the University of Denver will serve as the Emcee. Local speakers include: Kristin Race, a brain scientist who brings mindfulness tools to families and children; Tracey Stewart, an advocate for families attainment of self-sufficiency; artist Andrea Moore; Joy Lujan, an environmentally conscious community planner; Elizabeth Wolfson, gender-specific education advocate and activist; Tracy MacKenzie, who’ll present on tying passion, purpose, and work; AnnJanette Alejano-Steele, academic activist connecting the dots in human trafficking; and SHEL, four sisters who are all classically trained musicians with personality in equal proportion to their musical mastery.

TEDxMileHighWomen is TEDxMileHigh's fifth major program. Prior events have showcased innovative Colorado presenters, including Olympian Jeremy Bloom, Governor John Hickenlooper, U.S. Science Envoy Bernard Amadei, advertising guru Alex Bogusky, musician Gregory Alan Isakov, and many other extraordinary people. TEDxMileHigh is supported through a fund at The Denver Foundation, Colorado’s oldest and largest community foundation.
