Entourage Yearbooks announced their 3rd Annual National Yearbook Competition awards, recognizing P.S. 40 from Manhattan, New York, with the following award(s):
Grand Prize Overall Yearbook
2nd Place Cover Design
The Entourage National Yearbook Competition is a nationally sponsored contest judging school yearbooks across the dimensions of creativity, originality, and journalistic relevance. Hundreds of schools entered across all fifty states at the Elementary, Middle School, and a very competitive High School level.
This achievement recognizes P.S. 40 for putting together a distinctive yearbook at the Elementary School level. Their entry was submitted at the end of June 2012 and was officially awarded on October 31st, 2012. P.S. 40’s yearbook was selected from hundreds of schools who had submitted entries from around the country.
In regards to their award winning yearbook submission, parent members of the Yearbook Committee shared, “Our Yearbook, "PS 40 2012!!! An Amazingly Epic Year", was a true collaboration of parent volunteers, teachers, staff, and 5th grade students. Twenty of our 5th grade students participated in the Yearbook Elective. They came up with theme ideas, then surveyed their classmates, deciding on a Graphic Novel theme. The elective students brainstormed ideas related to their theme, coming up with comic book images of the 5th grade students; the "Wonder Women of 5th Grade" page, featuring their classroom teachers; and the special talents of their "Specialty Class Teachers". The parents, teachers and school staff worked hard to create the book as they knew the students were envisioning it, and all are very proud to have achieved the honor of winning the Grand Prize for the Overall Yearbook, and the 2nd Place for the Cover Design.”
