Greenberg Traurig’s Lauri Thompson to Speak at National Business Institute Music Law Seminar in Las Vegas

Lauri Thompson, a shareholder in the Las Vegas office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, is slated as a co-presenter at National Business Institute’s Continuing Legal Education for Professionals Seminar ‘Music Law 101’ on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Music Law 101 seminar, titled “Hit the Right Notes with Your Clients,” will focus on intellectual property and entertainment law. Topics include recorded music, music publishing, cost/benefit of the "all-in-one" package deal, representing artists, and the ethics of film and music, according to NBI’s website. Thompson will present on the topics of music publishing, including revenue streams for the PA copyright, the songwriter/music publisher contract relationship, and new and alternative media usages.

A shareholder in the Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group, Thompson focuses her practice on entertainment, trademarks, copyrights and rights of publicity. She oversees the clearance, procurement and enforcement of intellectual property rights throughout the world, including the protection and use of intellectual property on and off the Internet.
