“A Night for Sight” will grace The Breakers in Palm Beach on Nov. 30 to raise funds for the world’s largest eye-research center, Schepens Eye Research Institute / Massachusetts Eye and Ear.
The elegant evening gala will feature several notables, including Miss Florida USA finalist Connor Boss as the guest of honor and American Idol contestant Ayla Brown as the entertainment headliner. Those attending from Waterfront Properties and Club Communities are David Abernathy, the company’s business manager, along with agents Michael Bellemeur, Courtney Olander and Dean Stokes.
Boss, a freshman at Florida State University, has battled Stargardt’s disease for 10 years. The hereditary condition affects the retina and causes vision loss over time. Legally, Boss is blind. She has appeared on several national news programs to talk about her triumphs and tribulations.
Brown is the daughter of Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, in whose state the institute was founded 62 years ago. She sang the national anthem at the Republican National Convention this summer and performed at the Country Music Association Awards this Fall.
Schepens Eye Research Institute / Massachusetts Eye and Ear, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, conducts innovative research, develops promising therapies and helps fight eye disease, vision loss and blindness through the help of its prestigious board of directors, its generous donors and its loyal supporters.
Honorary Chairwoman of the gala is Palm Beach resident Kathryn Vecellio, who serves on the institute’s board of directors. Vecellio, a noted philanthropist and advocate for the arts in Palm Beach County, had an invitation-only, pre-event reception about her private yacht in Lake Worth.
Bellemeur specializes in northern Palm Beach County golf-course communities, including The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club & Spa, recently acquired by Donald Trump. Olander is a new buyer’s agent at Waterfront Properties, and Stokes is part of a team offering North Palm Beach real estate for sale.
