Using Kimbia Racing, we are so much more efficient in managing our turkey trot, which frees our staff to focus on marketing and providing an outstanding runner experience in other important ways.
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) November 30, 2012
Kimbia Racing – which offers the most powerful and flexible event management and online fundraising platform in the marketplace – today announced that Texas’ leading “turkey trots” used its solution to successfully manage registration of 70,000 participants on Thanksgiving Day.
Held in communities nationwide, turkey trots are fun runs that benefit local charities and often attract people who want to burn a lot of calories before indulging in a Thanksgiving feast. The top trots in the Lone Star State – all Kimbia customers – include the Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot, Houston’s TXU Energy Turkey Trot benefiting Sheltering Arms Senior Services and the Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot in Austin, which raises funds for Caritas, a local nonprofit serving the homeless, the working poor and documented refugees. These events have been growing significantly in recent years with registrations up by 40 percent collectively since 2010.
“High volume events like turkey trots – ours alone had more than 33,000 participants this year – are logistically complex because there is so much athlete data that has to be managed at registration as well as check-in and packet pick-up,” said Jeff Scheibel, Vice President, Dallas Metropolitan YMCA. “Using Kimbia Racing, we are so much more efficient in the ways that we handle standard race management procedures. That frees our staff to focus on marketing and providing an outstanding runner experience in other important ways.”
Organizations that use Kimbia Racing can:
- Create a strongly branded experience for race organizers and sponsors. Participants can register from the race site or a race sponsor’s site without ever being redirected to third-party race registration sites, increasing brand awareness for the race and its sponsors.
- Place registration forms on sponsor websites in addition to their own race websites to build awareness of their event and increase sponsor support. Sponsors can simply copy Kimbia code and paste it on their own websites to create additional registration pages, which helps recruit more participants, simultaneously gaining extra exposure for the sponsor’s brand – an additional benefit for the sponsor.
- Keep online registration open until the last minute. Allowing participants to complete online registration and check-in onsite can increase revenue by 5 to 10 percent on race day. Often people are not able to commit in advance but are likely to sign up late or even on race day – especially for races during the holiday season.
- Offer event check-in and packet pick-up at retail locations, including sponsors’ stores and facilities. Race participants can choose the location that is most convenient for them. Sponsors benefit because thousands of participants get more exposure to their brand while picking up their packets on-site.
“While always rewarding to see organizations use our solution to conduct efficiently managed and, ultimately, better events, it is especially gratifying to see this around the holidays,” said Simon Essl, General Manager, Kimbia Racing.
