The Center for Spiritual Living in Saddleback Valley continues its commitment to community involvement, service and charity through its two most popular charity events as well as three new events planned for the upcoming months. The members of this spiritual community believe in the power of community service and charity, and their constant involvement in two successful charities, a food drive and an adopt-a-family holiday program, has revealed the power of lending a helping hand.
The first charity, an annual food drive, is conducted in support of South County Outreach, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping low income and less fortunate families throughout all of South Orange County. This non-profit has been very successful in providing food and necessities to families, and interested consumers can read more at http://www.socfrc.org. This November, the Center for Spiritual Living community raised donations of food and grocery store gift cards which were then distributed to families in need. The Center for Spiritual Living has been involved in this successful food drive for the past twelve years.
One of the church's other successful charity programs is an adopt-a-family charity which encourages church members to donate gifts and food to a single family in need. This year, the Center for Spiritual Living selected a family of six that includes four children. In November, the church members provided their "adopted" family with a complete Thanksgiving Dinner. Throughout the month of December, the church will continue to collect donations to provide the family with a Christmas celebration meal and holiday gifts. Church members and community members who are interested in contributing to the adopt-a-family charity can contact Reverend Allison or Donna Marchand at the Center for Spiritual Living in Saddleback Valley for more information. Additionally, the church will be holding a special event after services on Sunday, December 16, 2012 to wrap the family's holiday gifts together.
In addition to these successful charities, the church will also host three new events. On December 23, community and church members are invited to attend a Christmas Extravaganza including music, choir selections, candle lighting ceremony, and holiday potluck luncheon. December 31, the church members will participate in a worldwide prayer activity at 4 in the morning. The World Peace Meditation Monday event is one of the largest prayer activities in history. Beginning Wednesday, January 9, 2013, the Center for Spiritual Living will feature a class series covering the works and writings of Ernest Holmes.
