Seattle IT Consultants, EMRSoap, offers advisement that will help businesses and medical practices grow securely despite the challenges they face.

EMRSoap, a Health IT consulting firm based out of Bellevue, WA, is now providing customized HIPAA policies and procedures for small physician practices in Washington.

“Small practices usually have limited staff resources – the office managers that will be shouldering the burden of HIPAA compliance are, as a rule, extremely busy,” says Mark Jagger, CEO of EMRSoap. In light of that, Jagger says that EMRSoap’s consulting is designed to usher small practices into HIPAA compliance while using as few internal practice resources as possible. Jagger says that they work with practices to design policies, procedures, and workflows that fit their own specific needs. “Our extensive experience as Health IT Consultants have educated our entire company – everything needs to be based on what’s going on in the practice.”

While there are many HIPAA policy templates online, such documents require extensive work to adjust to the individual practice needs. A practice would have to tailor the policies, create procedures and tracking mechanisms, and design an internal HIPAA workflow – a significant burden to a small organization unfamiliar with the intricacies of HIPAA.

“A surprising number of small practices have ignored HIPAA thus far,” says Jagger. “They have fewer resources, less time, and often feel like they’re too small for an audit. Unfortunately, that’s just not true anymore.” The first major case brought against a small provider was in April of this year, when Phoenix Cardiac Surgery was fined $100,000 for not having appropriate HIPAA policies and procedures.

In a press release related to the fine, Leon Rodriguez, director of the Office of Civil Rights, the organization that policies HIPAA violations, said “We hope that health care providers pay careful attention to this resolution agreement and understand that the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules have been in place for many years, and OCR expects full compliance no matter the size of a covered entity.”

The medical industry is facing increasingly complex technical systems and restrictions. EMRSoap offers advisement that will help businesses and medical practices grow securely despite the challenges they face. EMRSoap relies on its’ parent company, CyberStreams Inc. to provide quality technical consulting. CyberStreams has been providing reliable technology support to the greater Seattle area since 1997. In addition to being a Microsoft Certified Partner who provides IT Consulting services, CyberStreams also offers expert guidance on business phone systems.
