Crystal Ski announce this to be the best winter to see the Northern Lights

With so many people travelling to Finland every year attempting to gain a glimpse of the Aurora Borealis (better known as the Northern Lights), NASA have now confirmed that this will be the best winter for years to witness the natural phenomena. Experts predict the Northern Lights will shine at the brightest levels seen for 50 years.

Crystal Ski, the UK’s number 1 Ski operator, are offering winter holidays to this Finnish Lapland where customers can experience a multitude of activities; skiing, snow shoe safari, husky farm visit, reindeer farm visit, cross country skiing and much more.

The Ruka ski resort located north of Kuusamo and close to the Arctic Circle, is one of the premier ski destinations in Finnish Lapland with 20km of pistes as well as plenty of kids’ activities and additional activities such as snow safaris. Ruka is known for its selection of red slopes and black runs on the north and western side of the mountain; allowing it to have been the host to the 2010 men’s world cup for freestyle skiing. Stay in the four-star Ruka Suites from £435 per person (based on six sharing a two bedroom apartment) for seven nights, departing January 2013.

An alternative Finland ski resort to visit is Iso-Syote, South of Kuusamo, offering snow-covered forests and plenty of snow. Located 150km beneath the Arctic Circle, known as the gateway to Lapland, and recently voted the best Finnish Ski Area 2012 by the Finnish Ski Area Association. Skiers and boarders alike can spend all day on the slopes in Iso-Syote on any of their seven floodlit slopes which stay open until 7pm during high season. Stay in the Iso-Syote Cabins from £519 per person (based on six sharing a two bedroom cabin) for seven nights, departing January 2013.
