The Global Autism Project is excited to travel to India to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd with our partner center, Society for Rehabilitation of the Mentally Challenged (SOREM).
SOREM is a center in Chandigarh, India that equips and prepares citizens with special needs for independent living in a community and sensitizes society to their needs. SOREM has partnered with the Global Autism Project to receive in-person training from SkillCorps, and SOREM and the Global Autism Project remain in close contact.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is a United Nations sanctioned day that aims to promote an understanding of people with disability and encourage support for their dignity, rights and well-being. For this International Day of People with Disabilities, SOREM will be hosting a day of sports activities at their center. Our SkillCorps members can't wait to be involved!
SkillCorps will also be training the professionals who work at SOREM in effective ways to better serve the population of individuals with autism at the center. Tina, Jenny, and Emily, our SkillCorps volunteers for this trip, are Board Certified Behavior Analysts who are committed to providing cohesive and effective training for professionals who work with individuals with autism.
We're very excited about this trip! You can follow our trip on our blog.
