Rod’s Western Palace, a western wear and accessories retailer, increased sales nine per cent over 2011 and reduced the wait in line to purchase products at the 2012 All-American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus Ohio. The company achieved its sales increases and efficiencies with InOrder’s Point of Sale (POS) cash registers. Developed by Morse Data Corporation, InOrder ERP (enterprise resource planning) software was developed specifically for multi-channel merchants, Internet retailers, fulfillment solutions providers and publishers who need real-time inventory and order management.

Rod’s Western Palace attends the All-American Quarter Horse Congress, the biggest single breed horse show in the U.S., each year. The company’s booth of over 20,000 sq. feet is a popular destination for show attendees seeking the latest in western wear, boots, tack, and gifts. In previous years, long lines formed at the registers as customers waited for Rod’s cashiers to process purchases and special orders. For 2012, Rod’s relied on its InOrder ERP software, which the company recently installed.

“At first we were concerned that our booth traffic was down over 2011,” explains Phil Minix, Executive Vice President for Rod’s Western Palace, “as there weren’t as many lines of people at our registers waiting to make purchases. But we quickly realized that our sales were on an upward trend and ended up almost up double digits over the 2011 show. The smaller lines were due to the increased efficiencies of our InOrder POS cash registers. They’re so much faster and pricing was more accurate, so people didn’t have to wait in long lines as they have in years past.”

The Point-of-Sale add-on, part of InOrder’s Order and Inventory Management ERP module, is designed for touch screen order processing. Users can quickly look up inventory items and if an item is out of stock on the floor, have it shipped directly from its warehouse. The inventory database is updated in real-time, so each cashier – or anyone at Rod’s – can see at a glance how much inventory exists for any item.
