Linus Bike gave applause to over 2,000 participants in the Dolphins Cycling Challenge after earning $2.2 million in donations on November 3-4.

The Sun Sentinel reported that, “The $2.2 million check presented to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center before Sunday’s Dolphins-Seahawks game at Sun Life Stadium was 100 percent of the funds raised by more than 2,000 cyclists that participated in the third running of the charity event.” The $2.2 million donation was the largest by any NFL team, The Sun Sentinel reports.

“The money raised by the DCC will directly help to save lives in South Florida,” said Michael Mandich, son of Dolphin Cycling Challenge founder Jim Mandich and current DCC CEO. “Having experienced the devastation that cancer can wield it is great to know that we can rely on a first class Cancer Center in our own backyard. Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center will use these funds for research in the pursuit of finding a cure and without all of the dedicated riders, sponsors and volunteers this would not be possible.”

According to the Sun Sentinel, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, a leading center for cancer research, develops new treatments for its patients with more than 250 doctors and scientists “can continue to conduct research and expand cancer treatment in South Florida.”

Jason Latty, national sales manager for Linus Bike offers the support of the commuter bike distributor and applauds the Miami Dolphins in their contribution to cancer research. “Football and cycling are two different sports that you would never think could tie into one another. This union of two magnificent sports made a tremendous difference in the fight against cancer.”

Latty went on to comment on the cyclists’ contribution as a vital part of cancer research. “With the cyclists who participated in the Dolphins Cycling Challenge the fight against this disease can continue and perhaps one day end.”
