Tahoma Beach's Shala is the perfect place to practice yoga on St. Maarten because it offers all the beauty of the Caribbean, without the sand on your mat.
St. Maarten (PRWEB) December 02, 2012
Yoga on St. Maarten takes many different forms. And now, for the first time, vacationers and locals alike can enjoy the serenity of waves crashing on Simpson Bay, at Tahoma Beach, while they practice yoga at St. Maarten's first yoga studio directly on the beach. The Tahoma Beach Shala is the new home of SXM Yoga's yoga classes. This unique venue is especially suited for practicing yoga, according to Megan Duma, SXM Yoga's founder who said, "Tahoma Beach's Shala is the perfect place to practice yoga on St. Maarten because it offers all the beauty of the Caribbean, without the sand on your mat."
As you walk down towards the beach, you can see the crystal blue-green water, the white sand, and the rocky bluffs of Beacon Hill. A large buddha graces the center of the beach, and to the right, you will find Tahoma's Shala. The Shala is ideal for practicing yoga because it has a cement floor, and a large covered area to protect the yogis from rain and too much sunlight.
SXM Yoga offers Astanga based classes on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. SXM Yoga's Monday yoga class is based on the traditional astanga vinyasa primary series. Thursday's class is power vinyasa, a combination of strength and core training through yogic postures, or asanas. Finally, Saturday's class is meant for all levels, as it is a vinyasa flow class, which is more rhythmic and sequenced.
SXMYoga.com was founded by Megan Duma in 2012 with the goal of connecting people who want to find and practice yoga on the island of St. Maarten / St. Martin. St. Maarten, commonly known by its airport code ("SXM") is a two nation island, which has lived peacefully that way for hundreds of years. SXM Yoga contains information on both the French side of St. Martin, and yoga for St. Maarten, the Dutch side.
