The main goal for me was to encourage at least one of the children to consider dentistry as a career option.
West Hollywood, California (PRWEB) December 03, 2012
A media representative for Dr. Neil McLeod, a West Hollywood dental implants specialist, today announced the doctor led a Dentistry Merit Badge course for the scouts in the Verdugo Hills Council of the Boy Scouts of America. It was a double session lecture program which included a field visit to the doctor’s dental clinic on Sunset Boulevard to teach the scouts how to make impressions of teeth and to do take x-rays.
The dentistry merit badge course was extremely well-received by the boy scouts many of which are still undecided as to which profession they will join when they graduate college. Very few of the children expressed an internet in becoming a dentist.http://www.drneilmcleod.com/ [ West Hollywood dentist __title__ ] Dr. McLeod said, “It was a lot of fun and the kids interacted and asked a lot of very good questions. I look forward to participating in more community organizations to help children learn the basics of dentistry.
The Burbank Dental Laboratory hosted the lecture at their facility which is located near the Empire Center at North Victory Place and Empire Avenue in Burbank. There was a variety of homework projects assigned to the students to ensure that each of them could demonstrate his knowledge of the material that was presented throughout the lecture.
The course is designed to familiarize the participants with common dental procedures such as Invisalign, dental implants, root canals and regular exams and cleanings. Dr. McLeod said, “The main goal for me was to encourage at least one of the children to consider dentistry as a career option.”
Doctor McLeod, who came to America as a Fulbright Scholar routinely uses his academic background to give talks at various organizations and to enrich the contributions he gives back to the country. The venue was a little different for the doctor who is accustomed to speaking at various American Dental Academies with an audience of established dentists.
Doctor McLeod is a USC Dental School graduate who has been a practicing dentist since 1972, and has worked both in London and Los Angeles. In his final year at Guy's Hospital Dental School he was a recipient of the Alfred Rycroft Traveling Scholarship to Tufts University Dental School in Boston. After graduating from Guy's Hospital Dental School, he continued in hospital service there while working for his primary fellowship in the Royal College Of Surgeons.
