Exsurgo is the perfect name for a wine that will benefit our strong service members and military families.

DELAPLANE, VA (PRWEB) December 05, 2012

RdV Vineyards in Delaplane, Virginia announce the launch of Exsurgo, the newest wine from the vineyard. 5,000 bottles will be released and 100% of the proceeds will go to Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit organization that assists combat wounded service members, their families, and families of the fallen.

Exsurgo is a blend consisting of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot, and cabernet franc. With a deep ruby core, Exsurgo shows crisp red notes with a touch of pastry and dried herbs. The round and elegant structure is a perfect representation of the 2010 growing season, which provided hot, dry, Mediterranean growing conditions all the way through harvest. While drinking wonderfully today, the wine should continue to age gracefully for the next three to five years.

“RdV is excited to partner with the Exsurgo team on this project,” de Vink said. “We believe that wine is meant to be shared and we can’t think of a better way to share our wine.”

Exsurgo is available online (http://www.exsurgowine.com) It can be shipped to 17 states: CA, OR, CO, WY, TX, MO, LA, IL, MI, GA, FL, NC, VA, NY, NH, MD, DC.

In a friendship that started several years ago, Peter Petronzio and Rutger de Vink instantly shared a common bond, the Marine Corps. As de Vink began his quest to create a vineyard from scratch and an exclusive wine to go with it and Petronzio finished his distinguished 26-year career as a Marine Colonel, they found another connection, an appreciation for wine. Two years ago, de Vink approached Petronzio with a desire to give back to the heroes that made this country great and they began to brainstorm. Thus was the birth of Exsurgo.

Wounded service members and their families were part of the harvest process for Exsurgo. On October 6, 2012, they and staff members from Hope For The Warriors® sorted through the fruit and stomped on grapes in the barrels. It was a memorable experience for both the warriors and the winery staff. (Photo included)

The name Exsurgo is Latin, meaning to stand, rise and recover. It was chosen as the perfect word to represent Hope For The Warriors® mission to restore a sense of self, restore family and restore hope for wounded service members.

“Exsurgo is the perfect name for a wine that will benefit our strong service members and military families,” Robin Kelleher, Hope For The Warriors® President said. “Hope For The Warriors® thanks RdV Vineyards for helping our service members stand, rise and recover from their injuries.”
