American Advertising Federation Taps Hydrogen Advertising in Seattle for New Campaign

Hydrogen Advertising launches a new campaign in AdAge and Adweek for the world’s most-entered advertising awards show: the American Advertising Federation’s ADDY Awards.

“The campaign is a salute to those who don’t let obstacles or “road blocks” get in the way of making their work as strong as it can be,” said Mary Knight, Co-Executive Creative Director at Hydrogen.

Today Hydrogen Advertising announces the launch of a new campaign in AdAge and Adweek for the world’s most-entered advertising awards show: the American Advertising Federation’s ADDY Awards. The campaign encourages the industry to enter their local ADDY Award competition. With nearly 200 clubs across the U.S., the ADDY Awards receive more entries than any other show in the industry.

“The campaign is a salute to those who don’t let obstacles or “road blocks” get in the way of making their work as strong as it can be,” said Mary Knight, Co-Executive Creative Director at Hydrogen. “We knew we’d be creating ads for our toughest audience -- our peers. Our goal was to honor how much of themselves these people put into their work every day.

There are three full-page and online ads in the series: “Stop,” “One Way,” and “Yield.” The ads will run from December through early 2013 as local shows receive entries.

George Riddell, Chairman of the National ADDY Committee, approached Hydrogen last spring after meeting Knight at the National ADDY judging. Knight and her partner and Co-founder of Hydrogen, Tom Scherer, collaborated with Dennis Clouse of Cyclone Design to create the campaign. Getty Images donated the photography and banner development was donated by The Creative Group in Seattle.

Both Riddell and James Edmund Datri, President and CEO of the American Advertising Federation couldn’t be happier with the new work. “This campaign elevates everything we’ve been trying to accomplish by calling out those who rise to the occasion to create award-winning ideas” said Datri.

The ADDY Awards is the world's largest advertising competition with nearly 50,000 entries annually. Founded in Florida in 1960 it was adopted by the American Advertising Federation, a not-for-profit industry association, as a national competition in 1968.

The ADDY Awards is unique among other advertising creative competitions in that it is the only competition that includes three levels of judging: local, regional, and national. Winning an ADDY at each level qualifies the work to progress to the next higher level. Awards presented are Gold and Silver ADDY Awards for professional and student entries.
