Hundreds of professional auctioneers from across the Midwest including three-time World Champion professional auctioneer, Paul C. Behr will travel to Lansing, Michigan for the Michigan State Auctioneers Association 62nd Annual Conference. The conference will take place from January 22-24, 2013 at the Best Western Plus in Lansing, Michigan.
Highlights of the conference include educational seminars conducted by esteemed auction professionals ranging from farm auctions to the future of the auction industry. A President’s Banquet, Awards, Scholarships and a highly esteemed fun auction which is open to the general public are also cornerstones of the conference.
The most popular feature of the annual event is its competitions. Each year, the Michigan State Auctioneers Association hosts the Michigan Auctioneer Championship where dozens of skilled auctioneers participate in a lively competition for the coveted crown. This convention will mark the 25th year of this competition. Equally as important, a lively competition will take place for the Michigan Ringman Championship.
One of the star attractions to the 62nd annual convention include, Colonel Paul C. Behr. Behr has been an auctioneer for over 35 years with over 8,000 auctions which include multi-million dollar real estate, automobiles, livestock, commercial and industrial auctions and benefit auctions. Behr who is the current Vice President of the National Auctioneers Association is one of the most recognized personalities in the auction profession by accomplishing an incredibly rare feat by winning three World Champion auctioneer titles.
Other prominent speakers include, long time Mason, Michigan resident who has become one of the most recognized auction personalities in the industry, Bill Sheridan. Sheridan was crowned as the International Auctioneer Champion in 2002. Michigan Auctioneers Champion in 1991, Michigan State Fair Champion Auctioneer in 1986 and was appointed by former Michigan Governor, John Engler to serve as Chairman of the Michigan Beef Industry Commission and the Michigan State Fair Authority. In 2003, Sheridan received the ultimate recognition by being inducted into the Michigan State Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame.
Also present is, Renee Jones of Houston, Texas who was named the 1996 International Auctioneer Championship in the women’s division. During her 25-year career as an industry leader, she has managed and sold over $6 billion of real estate and tangible assets. Jones has spoken at more than thirty-eight state auctioneer conventions, conferences and seminars.
