Forty Five year old mother of four, Julia Rawlinson was sentenced at Exeter Crown Court in court number 2 for 18 months (case S20120045). The bogus teacher from Brixham in Devon claimed she had science qualifications but had forged the certificates.
Sentencing had been delayed as psychiatric reports were ordered but when they were returned there was no mental illness reported. Rawlinson pleaded guilty, which Judge Philip Wassall gave her credit for but also said 'Your entirely self-centred approach to this has blighted the careers of everyone you taught.'
Defending, Mr Lee Bremridge said it was 'ironic' that the intellectual Rawlinson could well have become a good teacher, had she gone about it in the correct way, with the correct qualifications.
