The 13th Annual Benton Christmas on the Square will celebrate all things children with the theme, A Kid’s Christmas, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sat., Dec. 8, rain or shine, at the Heritage Village Square located in downtown Benton, Louisiana, located just 10 miles north of Interstate 220 in Bossier City.
The event is hosted by the Town of Benton Festival Committee. This year’s special guest is SciPort: Louisiana’s Science Center, which will feature Yertle the Turtle, Silly Snakes, Slime and Be a Conductor along with archery, BB gun shooting, wildlife, the Cypress Zoo, a rock climbing wall and more.
The festival will also feature vendors from throughout the state as well as Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi; the Dash Around the Square 5K run; contests; photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus; Santa’s Little Red Wagon Parade; live entertainment and more. Festivities will wrap with a Christmas parade at 3 p.m.
“Over the years, the festival and parade have grown and it’s just a joyous time for a lot of people to get together and celebrate the season and the reason for the season,” Benton Mayor Wayne Cathcart said.
Free parking and shuttle service will be provided from the Benton Courthouse, starting at 9:30 am. The last bus will depart the festival site at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
