Albert Sosa, PE, has rejoined HNTB Corporation as a vice president and office leader in the firm’s South Florida office. In this capacity, Sosa leads an organization of 70 transportation planners, engineers and architects.
Sosa previously worked for HNTB in South Florida from 2005 through 2010 serving as operations manager for the firm’s construction engineering and inspection office and as a sales manager.
He is highly regarded and well-versed in many facets of infrastructure development throughout South Florida, having most recently worked for the City of Miami, where he served as director of capital programs. Sosa also supported the Florida Department of Transportation, working as a senior construction project manager for the Miami Intermodal Center Program, and worked with the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority as an engineering and construction program manager.
According to Adrian Share, senior vice president and HNTB’s district leader for Florida, Sosa brings a wealth of knowledge from his previous experience. “Florida is growing at an incredible pace and the resulting infrastructure demands are enormous,” said Share. “Albert’s significant working knowledge of large-scale program management; design and construction project administration; transit system planning; and management of capital budgets is invaluable to our clients, who are facing complex and challenging program delivery issues in this era of ‘doing more with less.’”
Sosa is entrenched in the community as well, serving as the American Society of Civil Engineers’ student chapter practitioner advisor at the University of Miami, and as an advisory board member at the University of Miami’s College of Engineering.
Under Sosa’s leadership, HNTB’s Miami office provides clients, including the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, Broward County Aviation Department and the Miami-Dade Aviation Department, with comprehensive services to enhance mobility and travel options locally and regionally. Signature projects include the widening of State Route 874 in Miami, the planning and deployment of the City of Miami’s trolley service, and the runway expansion at Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
HNTB has 13 regular and on-site project locations throughout the state, employing 343 full-time professionals. The firm opened its first Florida office in 1954 in Miami.
