Color rules at the 2012 Bridal Jewelry Awards

"Color wedding rings is a trend that consumers are ready to follow . From sapphire accents to black diamonds, color gemstones with diamonds have become a favored mix. Severine Ferrari, Engagement 101.

Eight of the best engagement rings and wedding bands of the year were chosen by couples about to get engaged or married for Engagement 101's second annual Bridal Jewelry Awards. Thousands of men and women visited YourEngagement101.com to cast their vote for their favorite "ring of the year" in eight unique categories. It has to be noted that 3 winners out of 8 won with bi-color wedding rings. Also, all but one of the winning engagement rings featured a square cut center stone instead of a classic round.

Engagement 101’s second annual Bridal Jewelry Awards began with hundreds of submissions from distinguished jewelry designers from around the world. After a rigorous nomination process that whittled the submissions to just 48, the selections were then divided into eight categories of popular ring trends. Voters had a month to vote for their favorite rings. The winners are:

Best Classic Engagement Ring 2012
WINNER: Leo Ingwer

Best Fancy Engagement Ring 2012
WINNER: Sylvie Collection

Best Women’s Wedding Band 2012
WINNER: Omi Prive

Best Men’s Wedding Band 2012

Best Color Engagement Ring 2012

Best Vintage Engagement Ring 2012

Best Modern Engagement Ring 2012

Nominations for the 2012 Bridal Jewelry Awards were made possible by the Jewelry Awards committee who had the hard task of narrowing down hundreds of selections to just eight per category. Jurors in the committee included celebrity style expert Michael O'Connor, Ron Samuelson of Samuelson's Diamonds, Jim DeNatale of DeNatale Jewelers, Andy Koehn of Koehn & Koehn, John Walp of Long Jewelers, and Gail Friedman of Sarah Leonard Fine Jewelers. The event was sponsored by The Dessy Group.
