Bend, OR (PRWEB) December 06, 2012
Twenty four hours a day, 365 days a year, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, more commonly known as NORAD, tracks airplanes, missiles, space launches and anything else that flies in or around the North American continent. But, come December, one of NORAD’s most important missions gets underway: tracking Santa as he makes his way around the world bringing cheer to all!
Since 1958, millions of anxious boys and girls worldwide have tracked Santa’s progress on the way to their house with the help of NORAD. Now, for the very first time, parents can order NORAD Tracks Santa memorabilia, including a customized thank you letter from Santa, to commemorate this holiday season. Details are at http://www.itrackedsanta.com. The revenue raised through NORAD’s licensing program will directly benefit the NORAD Tracks Santa program and help it grow for future years. The bulk of the NORAD Tracks Santa program exists due to the generosity of volunteers and corporate members of the NORAD Tracks Santa team. Everything from computer servers, website design, video imaging, Santa's tracking map, and telephone services is donated.
More than 1,250 Canadian and American uniformed personnel, Department of Defense civilians, and their families volunteer their time on December 24th at the live NORAD Tracks Santa Operations Center to answer the thousands of phone calls and emails that flood in from around the world.
Licensing partner U.S. Allegiance, located in Bend, Oregon, is excited to be part of the program. “Not to give away my age, but I remember tracking Santa with Walter Cronkite on the evening news,” says company president, Steve Crawford. “It’s amazing how many people around the world participate in this. The NORAD website is unbelievable and we’re excited to be a small part of the team.”
U.S. Allegiance produces and distributes military logo memorabilia to military exchanges around the world. The company was the first official licensee with both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force, and it has produced products for the military for more than 30 years. Its top selling product for 2012 is the ‘Santa Bear,’ a collectible bear that wears a t-shirt bearing the name of the base in Afghanistan at which it is purchased. These are mailed home by military personnel.
“We fully expect our NORAD Santa Letter to be even more popular than our Christmas bear,” says Crawford. “Not much is more exciting to a child than getting a letter, less yet from Santa addressing you by name and referencing a present he left for you! We’ve come a long way from Walter Cronkite!” You can view the letter and memorabilia at http://www.itrackedsanta.com and track Santa with NORAD at http://www.noradsanta.org
