The report states that burglars smashed their way into the home of Paul and Kelly Tolin and along with electrical equipment, games and early Christmas presents, they stole Charley their 11 week old bulldog puppy. Charley was an early birthday gift from Paul to Kelly, who had begging for a puppy for a ten years. It was particularly heart-breaking for their six year old son, Cole and unlike the TV and Playstation, they couldn't replace her.
The couple from Cawston, Warwickshire did not take it lying down; they launched a Twitter and Facebook campaign and joined DogLost organisation who helped to start the campaign and made up posters. Due to this action, two women who saw the campaign spotted the dog and called the Police. The dog was seized by the Police and as she was micro chipped a vet could confirm that it was Charley. Mrs Tolin was able to collect the puppy later that evening and the woman who had the puppy was not charged as she received the dog as a gift in good faith.
