Avoiding Christmas disappointment is relatively simple – be prepared.

Every festive season we are inundated with adverts and decorations and gifts in stores, sometimes as early as July in luxury retailers. As much as the consumer might complain and say that “Christmas is ages away,” this has often proven to have been woefully inaccurate.

Before you know it, it’s the third week of December and you haven’t so much as thought about putting up a tree or what to get your loved ones, let alone Christmas dinner. Miss the boat and the only thing left for you to do is mak e the most of the high street’s leftovers and vow to be more prepared next year.

Avoiding the rush

However, the rush need not be inevitable. “Avoiding Christmas disappointment is relatively simple – be prepared,” says a company spokesperson. South East Labels offer a wide range of labelling, tagging and ribbon options, including loop locks for your outdoor needs, but it is strongly advised to order as far in advance as possible as lead times can increase dramatically from the usual 5-10 working days over Christmas, whether you are purchasing plain or printed products. It is also advised that business clients order plenty of extras where appropriate, just in case.

First time SEL customers: be sure to provide South East Labels with as much information as possible: details of size, amount, and the type of application (for material references).
For South East labels’ printed labels, packagers will also need to supply the company with any artwork, databases or barcode numbers well in advance.

All artwork must be provided in a high resolution PDF format. Problems with artwork are the number one delay in label manufacture. Not only can amendments to artwork delay your labels it can possible incur additional charges as the labels cannot be produced until the artwork has been completed and approved.

The company South East Labels, are more than happy to discuss customers’ individual requirements and offer offer free, impartial, expert advice on all of your labelling needs, making recommendations on the materials and adhesives right for each packager.

Lead times for thermal printing ribbons also need additional consideration. Although the most popular sizes and types are kept in high quantities, at this time of year stock levels can become low or even empty. Ensure you order your ribbons as early as you are able to, factoring in the possibility of depleted stock levels.

Printing your own efficiently

Just as South East Labels does, their customers also find the pressure increasing around Christmas time. Investing in a larger and faster printer might help. With great products such as the Zebra ZT220, the Zebra ZM400, Toshiba EX4T1 or the TSC ME240, larger industrial printers are not as expensive as you might think.
A label rewinding unit could also be a useful time-saving device. It is a stand-alone unit that simply sits in front of your printer, quietly and quickly rewinding your labels and is one more stress-reducing step to a successful Christmas.
